Empire Engine

Another great little Micro Game following the 18 card trend.

Be a mighty Empire in this micro game for 2 to 4 players

Pros / cons

Pros:
◦ Cheap
◦ Great as a portable always with you title for gaming at any time
◦ Surprising depth for such a small title
Cons:
◦ It does feel at times like it is a shrunk down version of a bigger game or that it should have been a small box game in place of a micro card game

Overall:

Micro games always seem to go down well in our house in part because they are easy to set up and quick to play so it’s possible to have a game when our youngest is taking a nap.

In Empire Engine you take on the role of an Empire that is powered by rotating gears that will allow you to gather resources, attack or defend the aim of the game is to have the most points awarded at the end for your goods, soldiers and inventions in your score pile.

What I like about this title is the forward planning and bluffing / trying to work out your opponents next moves.

This is a game that will continue to get table time in our house and feels bigger than it’s contents would lead you to believe, so if you are a fan of the micro game movement or want to see what all the fuss is about I recommend you check Empire Engine out.
